The Insiders' Admittals: Dr. Marcia Angell, the first female editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), famously wrote after her retirement: "It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines," & Dr. Richard Horton, editor-in-chief of The Lancet, similarly stated that "much of the scientific literature, perhaps half, may simply be untrue," citing small sample sizes, invalid analyses, and flagrant conflicts of interest, citing that medical journals rely heavily on pharmaceutical companies for revenue through advertising & purchasing millions of dollars worth of article reprints. Thus, they publish themselves as the standards of medicine, while debunking any whom say or offer otherwise.
